Über die Hochschule
Die Theologische Hochschule Chur ist eine Stätte der Lehre und Forschung katholischer Theologie und bereitet die Studierenden auf den Dienst in der Seelsorge vor. Sie steht sowohl Priesteramtskandidaten wie auch Laientheologinnen und Laientheologen offen.
Die Theologische Hochschule Chur ging aus dem Studium Theologicum am 1807 gegründeten Priesterseminar St. Luzi hervor und wurde 1968 als kirchliche Hochschule errichtet. 1974 erhielt die THC das Recht zur Erteilung des Lizentiats. Ihre akademischen Ausweise werden seit 1976 vom Kanton Graubünden staatlich anerkannt.
2003 wurde das ihr angeschlossene Pastoralinstitut eröffnet. Im gleichen Jahr wurde die Hochschule durch die römische „Kongregation für das katholische Bildungswesen“ einer Fakultät gleich gestellt („Institutum theologicum ad instar facultatis“) und erhielt das Recht, den akademischen Grad eines Doktors der Theologie zu verleihen.
Die „Schweizerische Universitätskonferenz“ akkreditierte sie am 27.6.2013 als universitäre Institution (Erstakkreditierung 2006). Die Theologische Hochschule Chur ist Gründungsmitglied des “Verbandes HFKG-Akkreditierter Privater Hochschulen in der Schweiz“ (www.aapu.ch).
Die THC hat für das Studienjahr 2016/17 einen Jahresbericht erstellt. Er enthält Informationen u.a. zur Struktur der Hochschule, den Lehrkörper, die Studierenden sowie wichtige Entwicklungen des Berichtszeitraums.
Chur University of Theology

The Chur University of Theology (THC) possesses the status of a Faculty of Theology, and is a private, church-run university which is accredited since 2006 at the Swiss University Conference as private university institution. The THC was established by the Apostolic See. Since 1974 the THC possesses the right to award the canonic licentiate. Since 1976 the academic grades are officially accepted by the Canton of Grisons. 2003 the THC received the right to grant doctorates in Theology.
The THC – as „Institutum Theologicum ad instar Facultatis“ with nine chairs and four lecturers – covers the entire area of the discipline „Catholic Theology“ in research and teaching. 2012 the THC has been successfull in applying for the Erasmus Standard University-Charta. Since the academic year 2013/2014 the Erasmus-University-Charta integrates the faculty and students even more in the international scientific exchange. 2013 the second positive accreditation by the Swiss University Conference took place.
Vision
The THC is committed to pastoral orientation and a solid academic education. This vision is the basis for the structural development of the THC, e.g. the establishement of new chairs in the area of Practical Theology and the foundation of the Pastoral Institute. The vision of the THC was evaluated in the academic year 2009/2010, and in 2012 discussed in the book „Lebenswelt und Theologie“ (volume 9 of the „Schriftenreihe der Theologischen Hochschule Chur“).
Cooperations
The THC enhances its academic exchange on national and international level with cooperations with several partner-institutions. Since 2009 national cooperations with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Lucerne, with the University of Teacher Education Graubünden, and a mobility-agreement on the Campus Chur have been signed. On a international level the THC enjoys cooperations with the Department of Catholic Theology of the Goethe-University of Frankfurt/M. and with the Jerusalem Campus of the Salesian Pontifical University (JCSPU) in Rome. A cooperation-agreement with the Institut Catholique de Paris is under preparation.
Research and Teaching
The relation to the surrounding world as part of the vision of the THC is implemented in research and teaching. While in the teaching of the THC the pastoral orientation is in the focus, several research-projects in the different theological disciplines respectively in interdisciplinary frameworks provide the scientific self-assurance of a lifeworld orientated theology.
